About Christian Artists
"Art seems to be one of those things. We were created in such a way that music erupts from us when we are squeezed. Whether it is violent wringing or love's embrace, song drips out. So sing with all your might. Paint with a fury. Write words noisy with color. Dance. Dance until we can see your soul. Let remembering squeeze you, then go get a bucket to catch the drippings... We come in breathless wonderment on our knees, and we call the whole of creation to hear and understand what this God of gods has done for us."
-Praise Habits: Finding God in Sunsets and Sushi by David Crowder
This quote was written about Psalm 66. You should look it up.
As a group of people who have a personal relationship with our Creator, we should be creating to inspire all of those around us. Our images should bring a better understanding of who God is to the viewer. God's beauty can be seen all around us, not just in the ways that we typically think of. After all, God created everything and gave humans the ability to create as well. Even though our creations are tainted by sin, they still show Christ in some way. Just think about it as looking at yourself in a broken mirror. You can still see a part of yourself reflected in each broken piece. There is beauty in the brokenness. Please try and avoid adding the typical "Christian" images (crosses, churches, Jesus, statues). Dare to be creative and different. Remember to serve your Creator in all that you do.
Photos, videos, drawings, graphics, are all welcome in this group. Please keep the discussion to positive and encouraging things. Healthy debate about Christians in the art world is okay, but please don't say anything hurtful.
"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen." -Ephesians 4:29
