Who I am ?

I am Ummeh Taslima Arju . I born in Holly Family Hospital back in 70’s then grew up in Dhanmondi, Dhaka Bangladesh and recently migrated to Australia and living in Melbourne.

I went Agrani School and College then Home Economics College to finish my bachelor and master degree in Child Development and Family Relationship. I started my career as a Grass Root Analyst in Action-AID. In 2002 I joined The JiVitA project (A Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition Research Project in Bangladesh, by the Center for Human Nutrition, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, USA with the support of US-AID and Bill and Melinda Gates foundation) and worked there for more than 5 years as a Quality Control Co-ordinator. Since I come to Melbourne, I worked with Save the Children, Australia and Caroline Chisholm society.

From post school to get involved into business about 12 years I was involved in Shooting. I achieved a few medals from national level completion and silver is my best. Overtime I loose interest and motivated to photography and some other things.

What do I do ?

Currently I am away from everything, just only nursing my 7 weeks old boy.

How I started photography ? :

In my family my elder vashkar and his wife use to do photography as a hobby. My husband is also fascinated with Photography and always encourage my photography though none of them are professional. As you already know I quit my best hobby and I was always fascinated for good photography, especially black and white photos. Eventually photography becomes part of my life. I have gone through a few macro photography book for example book written by Martin, Gilles and Sholik, Stan inspired me a lot.

What kind of subjects you prefer to photograph most :

Macro > Macro >> Macro and baby photography


What gears and tools I use ?

My equipments are dreadfully basic and I consider them as amateur level.

- Canon 450D and Canon 50D (Planning for a full frame)
- Tokina 11-16 mm f/2.8
- Canon 18-55mm
- Canon 100mm f/2.8
- Canon 50mm f/1.8
- Manfrotto 190XDB Tripod with 488RC2 Head and filters.
- Off camera speed lights and cactus and stands
- Backdrops and stands

What are my plans and dreams regarding photography ?

I am just a beginner. It is not an easy task to be a photographer specially macro photographer. It requires a lot of practice. Hopefully in I will be back to photography in 6 moths with some new gear. I am thinking to set-up a small home based studio for baby photography and will enrich m stock by photos. I have to think what I am going to do with this.
