About Chiricú

Chiricú is an Indiana University graduate student run literary publication that focuses on poetry, prose and art with themes of chicano, latino, caribbean and luso-brazilian culture. Entries for literature as well as art are open to the general public.
Photos, illustrations, painting etcetera posted to this group may be considered for publication in upcoming issues. Please make sure that your photos portray a narrative quality that reflects on themes which would compliment the general themes of the publication. (literature, culture, socio-poltical, etc.)
As this is a university publication, unfortunately we cannot pay for your work, but we feel that it is a great way to advertise yourself as well as broaden your portfolio. However, you will recieve 2 complimentary issues of the journal once it is published if your work is included.
If you are interested in submitting a work of poetry or prose, please get in contact with one of the administrators.

Guidelines for a good submission: Questions to ask yourself before uploading a picture:
1- Is it your own work?
2- Is your photo clear and of a high quality resolution?
3- Is there an obvious central element or theme?
4- Does your photo tell a story or have a narrative quality?
If you answered yes to these questions, then your photo is perfect for the pool!
Things not to include:
1- Photos of sunsets, sunrises, nature, pets, family, etc. that don't have a narrative quality.
2- Snapshots or low quality images.
3- Other peoples work.
