29 May 09 - Everybody has seen the photos of famous (and unfortunately very touristy) places in China: The Forbidden City, the Great Wall in Badaling, Terracotta Warriors in Xi'an, Karst mountains in Guilin and Yangshuo, the old town of Lijiang. But who has been to an undiscovered gem of a village or a remote ancient town in China? If you can answer this with "I have", please post your pictures here and tell us where you took them.

About China Off the Beaten Path

Please submit your pictures of undiscovered, unknown, remote, and hidden China.

Just a couple simple rules:

This group is about the hidden gems in China - off the beaten path and far away from the tourist streams. For example, if you have pictures of Lijiang from 20 years ago, please submit them; if you have pictures of Lijiang from last year, forget about it. But if you have been to Shaxi (Yunnan), Qikou (Shanxi), Dege (Sichuan), or any other remote, interesting place in China, I'd like to see your photos and hear your stories.

1. Please do not submit pictures of touristy China.

2. Please indicate where the picture was taken - tell us province, prefecture, county, town or village as accurately as you can.

3. If possible, please geotag your pictures!
