About Photographing Children: Simon Says...
(cliff notes version of etiquette)
- AVOID 2 POSTS IN-A-ROW ON SAME THREAD
- PUT SMALL SIZE ON THREAD
- CHECK TO SEE IF A THREAD EXISTS USING THE SEARCH FUNCTION
- POST MEDIUM SIZE ON NEW THREADS
- HAVE FUN
This group is primarily an interactive discussion group (In fact, there is NO group photo pool!). We participate in the group via discussion threads.
We got our inspiration from the Street Photography group – they have Street Riff threads on different themes (Thanks *syzygynick!). It's been very successful, so we thought we'd try it with Child Photography. Instead of calling our threads Street Riffs, we're borrowing the name of a childhood game: Simon Says...
Each theme gets its own discussion thread, and if you have an idea for an interesting theme, please start a new discussion. Any member may start a new discussion at any time, although please check to see if there is something similar already. And since there are already groups for smiles, baths, toddlers, babies, children in b+w, etc., we suggest themes that are a bit more specific. (Examples: "First Tooth", "Oops!", "Bad Hair Day", "Hands&Feet", etc.) On the flip side, if you start a theme that's too narrow, only a few might come to your party!
Group Etiquette: The idea is to encourage as many people to contribute so we get a wide range of input (and interpretations), so please space out your postings accordingly.
HOW IT WORKS:
If you are contributing to an already started topic thread, please post the small size version of your photo. If you're starting a new topic, please post the medium size version of your photo. After your photo, add keywords so your thread will be searchable (i.e., for the PETS thread, keywords would include "dog, cat, fish, etc."). See this thread for more info: flickr.com/groups/topic/67051/.
Please include any description or comments you feel will add to your photo’s story. You also may want to offer a ‘how to’ of a difficult shot or cool post production technique. You do not have to add comments to submit your photo to the discussion. If a discussion thread is very popular, and the page load-time gets too long, we'll close a thread and start a "Part 2" version of that topic.
How to add a photo into your post:
•Start on the photo page of the picture you want to include
•Click on Click on “all sizes” (on the top of photo with a magnifying glass)
•Click on “small” at top of page (or "medium" if you're starting a new thread)
•Scroll down to choice #1 “Copy and paste this HTML into your webpage:"
•Copy all of the information in the box
•Paste in your post.
