About Chicago Photography Center
This is the official Chicago Photography Center group. We are here to discuss each other's photographs and have a good time.
This group is open to the CPC community. If you'd like to join please contact an admin and let them know which classes you have taken at the CPC.
This group is a place for discussions about your photos. It is not intended to be a forum to talk about CPC classes, etc. The photos in the permanent collection have been selected by the members of this group as being representatives of good photography. The selection process involves you posting your photos into the main group pool where other members vote to add it or not. This is not a judgment about you, the photographer. It is a game designed to elicit honest feedback about your photography.
*******************************************************************************************
How to Play:
1- A member submits a photo into review consideration by adding to the group's main photo pool. There is a limit of 3 photos per day. The photo can be an image from class, or just one that you feel warrants scrutiny, discussion, & voting. Please either allow people to view all sizes of your photos or post a link to a large version so we can all get a good look. Also be sure to tag your photo with "ChicagoPhoto"
2- Other members vote and discuss the picture in the comments section of the photo. If the photographer or a reviewer wish to keep comments/voting separate from the photo, please create a new thread with a link to the photo. If you post an image of your own, PLEASE do others the courtesy of discussing / voting on theirs.
3- Once the pic gets 10 "ADD IT" votes it will be removed from the pool and added to the PERMANENT COLLECTION thread.
OR
4- Once pic gets 10 "SKIP IT" votes, it will be removed from the pool and added to the NEAR MISSES thread.
Your photos can be anything from your class assignments to your own individual projects.
If you are struggling coming up with something to say try remembering the four questions from the CPC critiques:
1. What is the first thing you notice?
2. What do you like about this shot?
3. What do you dislike about this shot?
4. Had you been in that same situation what would you have done differently as the photographer?
There will also be two ongoing discussion threads. One will be a Biography thread where you can introduce yourself to the group and give us a little background about you. The second thread will be general discussion about the game rules, the CPC, photography, Chicago, the weather, or whatever else you'd like to talk about. The intention is to limit the discussion threads so that the primary focus stays on discussing each other's pictures.
