About Chengdu / 成都
成都 (Chengtu or Chengdu) is the capital of 四川 (Szechwan, Szechuan, or Sichuan) Province of China.
It lies in the fertile Chengdu plain, which is called 天府之国 (that means "the Heavenly country"), and is the site of one of China's most ancient and successful irrigation systems, watered by the Min River.
It is one of China's oldest cities.
It was famous for its brocades and satins.
