About Cheap Cars That Saved The World

There seems to be a group for just about any kind of car on Flickr, but what about the little guys? You know, the cars which though plentiful when new, very few may remain. This group is for cars which are iconic of a particular time, about cars that were made to get from point A to point B, to serve it's owner so that he could get on with life. You could call this group "cars for the common man".

So what is a "Cheap Car That Saved The World"? Well it is a car that was made to be inexpensive transportation, and was made in fairly large numbers. Also, the focus of the group is for cars that don't get appreciated as much as they should be, or may have even been forgotten by the generation that they belonged to.

There a few outlines for what kind of cars this group is intended for:

It has to have been inexpensive; enough so that anyone in the market for a new car could have bought one.

It has to have been mass-produced. Though the production figure doesn't have to be massive, it shouldn't be a company that wasn't obscure at the time. However, if the company is no longer in business, and is not well known for that reason, then it's obscureness is acceptable (such as in the case of the Eagle Talon, or an AMC product).

The car should be as original as possible. Though period modifications, and repairs as necessary to keep the car in functional condition are fine. The car doesn't need to be in working condition, though one still in use is preferred.

The car should be at least 15 years old.

It can't be something exotic. Sorry, your old Mercedes diesel isn't for this group (hey, I have one!), even if it's cheap enough that anyone with a steady income stream could buy one. It must be one that was competitively priced when it was new; in short, cheap.

Only cars please. No pictures of fish or naked chicks; please try to keep it G-rated?
