Dear all,
The photo exhibition (held between Jul 20-22, 2007) was a great success!! Over 200 guests attended the event, ranging from friends and family, contestants, judges, and representatives from various non-profit organization.
The event showcased over 80 winning photos from the contest, along with a slide show that featured all the nominations for People's Choice award. Few highlights of the evening included a piano and violin performance (by Judy Woo and Ellie Kang), and unveiling of Best Overall photos by judge Linda Levinson (from Tisch School of Art).
The event served as an opportunity for the audience to learn more about various non-profit organizations, and how to get involve. Over $1600 USD was raised in total for charity through suggested admission and photo auction. The detail breakdown is as follow:
NY Times Neediest Cases (net proceeds from admission) -- $1,025.76
Save the children -- $50.00
Unicef -- $30.00
Railway Children -- $30.00
Global Action Foundation -- $30.00
Aspcai Org -- $30.00
Friends International -- $100.00
Invisible Children -- $60.00
Amazon community animal rescue -- $30.00
Sumati Balwan School -- $40.00
Robin Hood -- $40.00
MAG -- $30.00
Bengkel Amal -- $40.00
Achilles Track Club -- $40.00
Lotus Children Center --$68.00
NY Times Neediest Cases -- 50.00 (direct donation)
The mission of this project is to touch, move, and inspire the audience with the focus on charity. Base on the feedback received so far, the event has achieved precisely that. On behalf of the Charity In-Focus group, I would like to thank everyone for the support and contribution towards this event.
