About Champions for Children Cycling Team

The Champions for Children is a cycling team of 50 cyclists who are dedicated to raising $100,000 for the abused and neglected children served by the Rocky Mountain Children’s Law CenterThe team trains together and completes several organized rides including their signature event, the Triple Bypass.

All proceeds benefit the Rocky Mountain Children’s Law Center, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that saves the lives of Colorado’s maltreated children and promotes healthy families through legal advocacy, innovative programs and public reform.

The Children’s Law Center helps kids like JC, a boy who suffered the worst abuse the county had ever seen.

When he was four, JC was removed from his parents, appointed a Children’s Law Center attorney and placed in a good foster home where his attorney ensured he stayed. The court allowed JC’s parents to have supervised visits until his attorney learned that JC was having severe nightmares before each visit and immediately went to court to put a stop to them.

After JC had spent several years in foster care and intensive therapy, Social Services was still struggling to find him a permanent home, so, the Children’s Law Center sought out an upstanding family to adopt him. Social Services was resistant but his Children’s Law Center attorney fought to get visitation rights, provided ongoing support and helped complete the adoption.

JC will never fully overcome his past but because he has a family who loves and supports him, he is happy, healthy and travels the country speaking on behalf of abused and neglected children.

Without the Children’s Law Center JC and thousands of kids like him would find themselves truly alone. Defenseless.
