Good question. If this was just Virginia, one would think Charlottesville, Fredricksburg, Richmond would be good central points, but we include DC [metro] area and DC seem as if it would be a great location.
My pick would be DC but I'm ok driving a couple hours. What does everyone else think? Could we switch up spots from time to time?

I would say unless there are more people that respond from Central VA that we should try for a DC meeting spot initially and then we can decide from there what works best.
In order to get past Easter & spring break, would the week of April 7 work? If not, what works best for you?

with my quick search to yahoo maps, if we met at Momreesa's house, most would have 1-1.5 hour drive besides me and rharper at 2-2.5 hour drive. I'm willing to make the trek though and the week of April 7 actually works into my schedule. Are we talking about that weekend? like Saturday, April 12?

Yep, I'd still be happy to host, but if a DC location is more convenient, I'm open to that, too. Anyplace in NoVa or DC is very convenient for me. I may be starting a new job, so I'm not sure that a weekday meeting could work for me, but I'm open for a Saturday. =)

The original guidelines from Church Marketing Labs suggested meeting at a public place, and I'm inclined to think that would be the best solution. It seems that a DC location would actually be pretty inconvenient, given the distribution that I'm seeing so far. What about the Fair Oaks/Fairfax area, since it looks like most of us are coming from the west (Richmond and Alexandria being the exceptions)?
The week of Apr 7 is fine with me.

Awww, you guys make me nostaligc. I'm from the Shenandoah Valley, and my parents now live in Front Royal / Strasburg and the rest of the fam is either DC or on the Eastern Shore. Since I doubt SeanP will see me "say" this-- East Coast rocks!

During the week usually works best for me, with Fridays being the best. But with that said, I could work out a Saturday date, as long as I know enough in advance.

well, last time we talked about actual dates, it seemed to be the week of April 7? A Saturday works best for me, April 5 would be preferable for me, but i could also do something early in the week if I plan for it.

Oh if we are going to do week nights then Wednesday would be bad for me... thats when my small group meets... but I guess I could skip it once.
I think we have a few people interested enough that we need someone to take charge, set a date, a time and a place. Obviously we wont be able to meet everyones requirements but in the future can be something that we might be flexiable with so everyone can meet.

Well, if I'm going to make it Tues and Wed are just plain impossible. I have Young Adults on Tues and Youth on Wed and I don't think I can skip since ... um I'm the Pastor and all. I can make any other time day or night except Sundays obviously.

Ok I think we are getting closer to picking a day. No Tuesdays, Wednesdays and obviously no Sundays so that leaves us for the week of April 7th:

Friday April 11th

The plan is to meet at Farifax Community Church We just need to nail down the date, then we can set the time.

I'd like to go and I don't have any schedual conflicts tha tI am aware of. On the otherhand, I'm far form a designer and wouldn't be able to add much to the converstation.
I am hanging out around the lab to learn more so I can do what design work I can. If you'd rather limit this to people that have a clue, then kick me a message and it won't hurt my feelings.

hi, i am new to the lab, new to the area, and a very amateur designer (not even sure i should use that word!) can i still get in on this meeting? i now live in ashburn, va, so i don't think i am too far from fairfax. i just moved here two weeks ago, so i am still learning my way around. if this meeting is full, i would love to get in on the next one. i am learning so much from this forum, but just haven't worked up the nerve to actually upload anything i have done. i thought a meeting like this might be a good first step. i'll just keep checking back here to find out more....

Not sure if we're using this as a sort of RSVP, but if so, I just realized I can't come tomorrow. Doh! I forgot I am having a church Rock Band party at my house. LOL! I won't have enough time to come out to Ffx Community Church, get my house cleaned, go food shopping, and set up for the party. You guys have fun -- wish I could come to learn from the pros!

Well - Guess what - I drove 140 miles round trip today to a cancelled meeting! bummer!
I DID check this space before i left the house around 7:30, went to a 2 hour mens breakfast at our church, then left for FCC.... It appears the cancellation wasn't posted til around 9am.
I am upset, but want to turn this into a 'lessons learned' experience for this new fellowship of creative types....
1. This is loosely formed under the banner of the Center for Church COMMUNICATIONS! - but we need to improve our communications!
2. I would suggest we all give our cell numbers and email addresses to 1 or 2 point people. That way, the leaders can text us of any changes, cancellations, etc. right up to the instant of the meeting. The leaders can also utilize the contact list to have 'sidebar' discussions with individuals in preparations for gatherings.
3. Limiting access to the contact list like that may be a good idea at least at first until we know each other a little better.
.... so what dyall think anyways? can we try to work on something like this?

I suggest a phone tree to text updates. With skstarkiller at the top, then contacting the people that live the furthest away first (due to travel time) and work our way in. Does that work for everyone?
