About Centre of Attention

This group is for images where the Rule of Thirds has been ignored in favour of images where the subject is positioned at the center of the frame. This implies that the subject cannot be large and/or fill the frame. See the red target in the diagram below.

Examples:

The pool should show straightforward photography so no heavily manipulated images, light experiments, mosaics, montages, collages, computer graphics, drawings or paintings.

Rule of Thirds
For centuries artists have used a compositional rule of thumb to make pictures more dynamic and interesting. The method is called the Rule of Thirds. The rule states that an image should be divided into nine equal parts using two equally spaced horizontal lines and two equally spaced vertical lines. The four intersections of the lines are then used to align the main features of the subject.

Using this technique produces photographs with more tension, energy and interest than putting the subject in the center of the photograph or does it?. This group will find out.

===================================================

The pool should show straightforward photography so no negatives, heavy manipulations, light experiments, mosaics, montages, collages, computer graphics, elaborate or decorative borders (borderless preferred), large titles (no titles preferred) or drawings/paintings.

Images that don't fit the guidelines will be removed from the pool. If one of your images has disappeared you may find the explanation in the group description above. If you don't understand why your image has been removed please contact one of the admins by Flickr e-mail.
