One of the new features. I've had the "Justify" look for quite a while not realising I was seeing a Preview. I guess it's now been rolled out for everyone.

"I don't know how new this is"
It's so new, it's not actually here for everyone yet !
You are seeing the preview of the contacts page which will be rolled out for everyone on the 28th.
Official group: www.flickr.com/groups/justifiedpreview/
The same justified view is planned across other sections of the site in the coming months.
I don't have the preview. But take comfort in the knowledge those seeing it now were chosen at random.
Or so they say.....

I'm not a big fan of infinite scrolling.
The Justified is interesting, not sure how much I like it. Portrait oriented photos get the shaft though. They look so tiny compared to landscape orientation.
I guess I don't really get why we can't have options in presentation. It's not like other people are going to see the page anyway. I don't have a problem with a grid layout with text underneath. Not everything needs to be interactive.

, you do have a choice! In the upper right you can choose with the view menu, where it says "Justified"

This is so old it was in all the prediction threads in FC since 2007
www.flickr.com/search/groups/?w=34427469792%40N01&q=p...
It is no wonder that other api and even Google plus and Coloris plug in had a run at something similar.
At first I hated that Flick had white pages (that is a serious bad trip for photographers) but they kept it up and I got used to it (they did do larger size in black, lightbox and stuff) so you get used to a standard (like take all those people that used larger borders to show 3:4 size in a square format, that will hardly make sense).
The thing I think I miss most is feedback. Why don't they communicate first, is it that hard to ask?
I think it means somehow we are less of a community. It looks and feels and smells like something else.
I will have to wait for free beer day (march 21st) to see if anything has really changed.

Hey I still used roman numeral

or do you mean the free beer date
www.flickr.com/groups/wedemandfreebeer/discuss/7215761326...
We all need free beer (I'm Canadian so hopefully they will make mine a truck load).
Those big companies should know that soon bacon will not be enough, and it will take beer to tame the masses.

I have the preview, and think it looks great! The old look was getting a little tired and dated looking. Nice to refresh the look without compromising functionality.

I paid my $24 and I didn't ask for this. Neither did Flickr consult me.
I'm going to write a blog post predicting the end of Flickr.

(ok, how do I get the little quote-sized buddy icons if there's no reply button here? I used to know how to do this, but it's been a longgggg time...)
Someone commented on "infinite scrolling"--it's not actually infinite, which is good for people who have lots and lots of contacts. I only have 100 contacts or so, so in 1-per-person view, they all load up on one single page. When I switch to 5-per-person, it puts about the first 485 photos on the first page, then the rest of them on the second page. Very nice.
One thing I noticed is that this is going to put a crimp in the visibility of 3:2 vertical orientation photos. 4:3 aspect ratio isn't so bad, although they're certainly not as visible as the landscape orientation shots. People who shoot wide panoramas are going to completely freak out over this. :)
Overall it seems to be very nice, and a genuine improvement. I'm surprised. I appreciate that I can switch back to the old views, if I want. Retention of older features is a very nice thing, even if, as I suspect, I might not use them so much anymore.

Copy the main URL of the account whose buddy icon you wish to display and paste it between square brackets.

You can drag and drop a buddy icon from elsewhere on the page with most modern browsers, then add the [ ... ]
I'll let you guess what browser can't do that.

I'm pretty sure Netscape would still work better than IE. At least if you ran it on OS/2.
I'm not so sure you can use deodorants aimed at teenagers to browse the internet, but I'm willing to be proved wrong.
