Jazza2 I agree. Support for groups (pools and discussions) would be awesome.

Very nice. Now, how about a version that works well with the dozens of other smartphones out there-- Moto Q, Sprint Instinct, HTC Touch, Google/HTC T-Mobile G1, Treo Pro, Centro, Blackberry-- who are still stuck with a mobile site designed for the dumbphones of 2005.

Glad people like it :o)
Two quick bits of feedback:
[1] Additional features (maybe including Groups) will be added later on. This is just a quiet v1 launch.
[2] Other phones will get improved experiences at a later date. We've built it (both front-end and back-end) to make that a fairly easy transition in the future, but we're starting small until we get a good handle on how the new site is received and used.
Multi-device mobile development can be a nightmare, so forgive us if we take some baby steps along the way.

Great to see you chime in, Dunstan. To give a more elaborate feedback:
(1) I really love how snappy it feels. It's much faster to check up on Recent Activity with this than with a standalone iPhone app like Exposure. (This was alrady the case with the old m.flickr.com, but now it even looks good!)
(2) Large click/tap targets. No pull-down menus. Very good. Navigating flickr.com on the iPhone is a PITA mainly because of the menus.
(3) What I would love to see:
* Groups (discussions and pools)
* A grid-like view for the recent photos from contacts (much like the standard page flickr.com/photos/friends/)
* A full-screen browsing mode where I see the photo as large as possible and nothing else except back and forward buttons. I have realized I can click a photo to get to a large view (which is great) but it's a little cumbersome for flicking through a number of pics in a row.
* It would be great to be able to switch back and forth between m.flickr.com and flickr.com from every page.
(edit: added a fourth item to my wish list)

Ole Begemann, your 4th point (switch back and forth between the same page on m.flickr.com and flickr.com) is something we hadn't thought of.
It won't always be possible because not every mobile page has a matching page on the main site, but I'll add it to the list of Future ideas.
Thanks.

Well, I'm not looking for any super-fancy native application. I just want a mobile site that shows photos bigger than 160x160. Many phones have 320x320 & 320x480 screens. Also, when browsing some photo pages, m.flickr.com just shows 3 at a time. Why not show 25/page as you do when browsing contacts? That's a little tweak that would make a huge improvement in usability.
Hopefully that's the stuff you're working on. I spend more time browsing flickr.com instead of m.flickr.com because of these shortcomings.
But glad to hear about the progress.

mobile fotos is still extremely useful for its upload capabilities and "nearby" features.
so you didn't waste your money, really.

perfect for my iPod Touch! (it doesn't have a camera or GPS so the iPhone apps out there don't have much to offer)

Looks pretty cool. On my Nokia N810 it's perfect. I can't wait to try it with G1, once they ship one to me on 22nd of October...tick tock...tick........t..o..c......k.
on my Sony m600i, I use opera mini to use the non-mobile site of flickr.
[OT] I wonder if mozilla fennec will be ported to any mobile devices, so that developers can port agent switcher or greasemoneky

I'm digging it. I've been using mobile fotos for uploading, but for general viewing of recent activity, this interface definitely beats theirs!

Don't forget the PSP!!!
Pleaaaase don't forget the PSP.
I don't have an iphone or ipod touch but I browse flickr on my psp at hotspots. I can get the whole site and it works fine (at least with the psp slim, haven't tried it yet with the psp phat). I sometimes log onto the mobile site because its a bit quicker. I hope nothing changes that will prevent me from getting the regular site on my psp. Only problem is flash and I can't use the drop down buttons to add to groups but I can still browse and post to discussions.
Why in the world would I buy an iphone (or any cell phone for that matter) when I can use psp with skype from a (prefereably free) hotspot? It costs at least $100 (canadian) less than the ipod touch (and way less than an iphone 3 year contract bs). I was a little annoyed to find out I had to buy a new slim psp to use skype (plus special headphones for about $25) as it (skype) doesn't work on the old phat psp, Otherwise its a good deal.
Doesn't the browser in the iphone pick up the regular flickr site?

well... that interface is nice, but I don't see why it needs to be hardcoded to the way that only Safari in iPhone/iPod Touch could access it, and left out all the Opera Mobile 9.5 users..... can some one just made an URL that will just turn that UI on no matter what... pretty much like the iphone.facebook.com,
come on..........

Is there a way to add picture to group or set from iphone? I can't seem to be able to scroll at all, if the group/set is further down the list.
