That's amazing, but even more amazing were the stats that Heather posted to Flickr Blog on the 29th.
We set an all-time upload record yesterday: 2,070,075 photos in 24 hours! (8:40 PM)
I'm still rather in shock.

As far as I know it wont be a record for 1,000,000 images in a pool.
However, Im trying to get 1,000,000 members in this group posting 1 image each into the pool - all for charity.
Still amazing to know how many people are posting to flickr in such a short space of time!

The images posted into the "1 million" pool will be put into a series of books available for sale with the profits going to charity.
So, simply placing your image into a pool CAN raise money for charity. :)

kazam media have you any idea how long it will take to select images from a pool of 1,000,000 for publication? i judged a photo comp once and i had to go thought 3,000 and that took about 2 days so if you look though them at the same speed as me it will take you a year. besides there are only 8,000,000 people useing flickr so that means that you have to 1 in 8 user in your group i might take you the next ten years
anyway good luck with it hope it works

Is there a way to sort a group by "interestingness" or could you sort the group by number of views, or number of comments? That might be a good way to cull the numbers way down and get the bestest of the bestest (of which mine, sadly, will be none).

plastereddragon if did it by interestingness it would be a book full of sunsets kittens flowers and would be crap, on second thoughts it would probably sell really well!
by the time the pool gets 1,000,000 i am sure flickr will have a tone of new features to do just this sort of thing

OK folks it's now 3.50pm eastern on Monday 9th July, and according to my highly scientific and mathematically very complex calculations, Flickrcentral is now only 14,341 photos short of number 1,000,000 in the pool.
It is now exactly 40 days since I started this thread, and in those 40 days, an additional 55,976 photos have been added to the pool.
If you divide the number of photos by the number of days (*counts on fingers, runs out of fingers, borrows daughters' fingers, runs out of daughters, gives up, goes out to buy a calculator, has lunch, comes back*) you will find that we are collectively adding photos to the pool at the rate of 1,400 a day.
By my further calculations that means we will arrive at our millionth photo in ten and a bit days' time, namely at around 7pm on Thursday 19th July.
The admins would almost certainly like to invite you to a huge worldwide celebratory Flickrfest that evening, with all drinks paid for by them.

Now everyone is going to wait until the 19th at 7pm to add their photo, just to get a free 8 x 10 from Violentz. Knowing this, I'll wait until after that. Hmmmm, but now that I've told you this, you'll wait, so I'll do it before then. But you've probably figure that out, too. DAMN YOU!!!
I hope it's a picture of a swan with a baby on its back.

Cool, I like dominating the uploads.
I was noticing that, according to Flickr, this:
flickr.com/photos/upyerbum/194274843/
is the most interesting pic here tagged "Flickr." But it's not tagged Flickr...what's up with that?
Does that machine tag ( flickr:user=♥shhexycorin♥ ) count?
If so, that seems wrong.

i dont believe there are a million pics here cause u cant see them.
i can load pages 1-10 in about 10seconds per....call up page 46576 and you sit in lala land for a good 10 mins on dsl...next page same thing...its not like the server says, ok, we got some fool in this area....nope...and call up any image on 46576 and a further 10 mins to load. You can only start a slideshow from page 1 so its gonna take a long time to get there that way.
Maybe this group has 10,000 pics if considered in a group sense because a group is "not what we did"...but "what we have"....you have nothing if you can't see them.

(PS: guys, you're off by 1 - as of this moment, the flower pic (also nice) is #1,000,001. It may eventually get to 1,000,000 if something's deleted, but Jim still takes it)
