My best friend worked at Hooters with the guy Chris (the skinny one,that looks like Hustin Timberlin)
you know that rap producer Timbalin? he's from my area and he got Chris on the show lol

the women are definitely stronger as a group than the men. there are a few that have definite potential, although i wonder if there is a chance that any of the guys will make it to win...
and i have to wonder if there might be any shocking upsets like last season..

Now here at last is a thread we can really get our teeth into. I was beginning to give up hope that FlickrCentral could ever generate an authentic cultural debate about a matter of international aesthetic importance.
The real question, of course, is how that Sanjaya kid has managed to survive this deep into the competition when he plainly can't sing.
The main theory seems to be that he is winning the granny vote, because he is cute and vulnerable (like a bunny caught in your headlights).
I think there is a more sinister subplot.
He is of course of Asian extraction, although no-one is allowed to mention this. I'm betting that his support network extends to all those calling centres in Bangalore, where he has clearly planted thousands of relatives who are busy rigging the vote.
I realise that some will view this as a racist observation, but the alternative explanation - that he is such a good singer he deserves to be voted through - is patently risible.
I can't wait to see what happens next.

I like both Lakisha and Melinda's voices but the scales tip in Lakisha's favor for me. When I saw Melinda's bit on how she has had 2 professionals working with her from her first audition, mapping out her clothes and hairstyles, that kinda turned me off. Lakisha has a genuine "undiscovered talent in joe average form" about her and that's the thing that appeals to me most about American Idol.

@Tampen, that's what we all felt too. i guess the diaspora gang-up maybe the cause. i am going to miss sundance on the show.
.....@striatic, enigma arcana, stargazer95050 and Tampen: perhaps a point is being made here. i mean, just consider the poor response to matters photographic, which should be closer to the spirit of flickr, such as at www.flickr.com/groups/central/discuss/72157594573163075/

OK why is a Thread about American Idol tolerated by FC admins? If the reasons for locking threads is adhering to the group guidelines and focusing on either flickr or photography why isn't this one locked? Could it be those random arbitrary locking standards which are vary depending on the mood of the admin when they logged in on a given day?

even if Lakisha does'nt win the competition i'm sure she has earned herself an extremely lucrative record deal.
I think she's a sure thing but as a dark horse I would pick stephanie.
