ive added 3 new filters to the script: "Faves you have in common", "Contacts you have in common" + "Recently commented photos"
the "faves you have in common" filter is Extremely slow to run, tho it might just be my slow computer. the "contacts you have in common" filter is also pretty slow, tho again it might just be my computer.

It says that the purpose is to make finding them again and keeping up with their photostream a lot easier. How difficult is it to find your contacts and their recent photos?
It does look cool and nice and all..
but it does seem that the purpose is to keep tabs on the activities of people who are not your contacts, preferably without their knowledge. If you want to keep up with your contacts and their photos simply click "contacts latest photos..."

wait until you've been here a bit longer. it can get extremely difficult after you've met a lot of people.
but it does seem that the purpose is to keep tabs on the activities of people who are not your contacts, preferably without their knowledge.
that's not really how the script works. they have to be your contact to begin with in order for the script to sort them, so it is impossible to use this to follow people "without their knowledge".

Well I can mark anybody as a contact that I want unless they are blocking me.
It says at the top of the thread Users dont actually need to be in your contacts list in order for you to tag them.

Ther ✌ esa ☀♒ ♎asc wrote: It says that the purpose is to make finding them again and keeping up with their photostream a lot easier. How difficult is it to find your contacts and their recent photos? It seems you have totally missed the point and usefulness of this script, i guess my description hasnt really done it justice, i will have a go at rewriting it.it does seem that the purpose is to keep tabs on the activities of people who are not your contacts, preferably without their knowledge. thats not the purpose of the script at all, it lets you keep track of any user whether contact or not, tagging a user is the equivalent of bookmarking a website in your browser, i dont see the problem with that.If you want to keep up with your contacts and their photos simply click "contacts latest photos..." The more contacts you get the harder it is to find them again and keep up to date with them using the contacts page. This script lets you group your contacts with specific tags, which means you can keep up to date with specific groups of users, very quickly + easily, and also gives loads of features that the contacts page doesnt give. Before passing judgement on the script, why dont you give it a try, you might be surprised.
BTW ive added 3 new filters to the script: "Their Groups", "Their Interests", "Their Photo Tags"

steeev - ever thought about putting a version check in? it could compare the internal number with a number on your server and put a link to reinstall if lower. but maybe that's obvious!

earth2marsh, i will put an automatic version check in a later version. Ive made a minor update to the script. fixed a potential bug and also added a new filter "Photos they have commented on". Ive also changed the scripts version number thats displayed at the bottom of the filtered user results to a link to the script on my server, so if you want to check if you have the latest version, the lo-tech way, you can just click it and compare the version number with that in the script on the server.

Great work!!! I really enjoy using your script. I think it is a very good work and you are kind to let us use it.
I have a problem using this script. I am using several computers, at home and when i go to my friends home or when roaming. I think it would be interesting to share my tags between different computers. I think it is not easy to implement, it is just an idea.
Thank you very much for your excellent work.

Great script steeev!
The only point that I find that could need an improvement is that pointed by my friend jcroldan.
The tags that you create and assign seem to "resident" in your own browser, so when you use another computer (the office one, a laptop, etc) you have to recreate and to reassign tags wich isn,t too fine.
But I suppose that it,s perhaps difficult to "add" that type of info to flckr internal bd,s so ...
A great work, in any case!!

Steeev: Is there a way to delete tags?
Edit 11/29/06: Ok, I found the usual way to delete tags but I have some tags that include quotes: "abc def tag". They show up in the list of tags but when I click on them my tagged contacts don't show up. Apparently the script has a problem with quotes so I would like to delete those tags ...

Steeev, may I suggest a feature? I realize that on the ToDo list is, "ability to subscribe to a users usertags via flickrmail / rss feed"...
Since flickr feeds support the ability to query different users in the same feed, it would be very cool to have a link that creates a feed URL out of a tag set of contacts!

@gabrielR + troutmask As far as i know greasemonkey does work on flock, dont know if this script does though, anyone tried it?
@emdot + My Baby Mia You can remove tags via the "-tag" links, and rename tags via the "rename tag" link.
@Kontaktabzug If theres a tag that you cant delete due to quote marks in the tag, you will either have to try and edit your tags datastore manually to remove the quote marks that are causing the problem, or uninstall the script, and also tick the box to remove associated preferences, and then reinstall the script, this process will delete all your tags though.
The script had a problem where some people couldnt view any of their tags, this bug has now been fixed.
Ive also updated the script to add functionality for backing up and restoring your tags. There are now 4 new menu items, in the "Tools/Greasemonkey/Userscript Commands" or "Tools/Userscript Commands" menu (depending on what version of GM you are using):
1) You can backup your tags datastore to your flickrmail account
2) You can restore your tags datastore from your flickrmail account
3) You can display your raw tags datastore.
4) You can restore your datastore via direct input of the raw tags datastore code (you would need to copy and paste the datastore from the first menu item or from your flickrmail)
the backup and restore functionality will mean users who want to use the script on multiple computers, will be able to export their tags from one computer and import them on the other/s.
there is a little bit of a bug when restoring your tags after storing them in flickrmail, any usernames with "non standard" characters may get a bit mangled, though this shouldnt affect the majority of the scripts functions or usernames. though i will see if i can fix this in the near future.

Ive updated the script again, this time i added "Recent photos featuring this user" and "Interesting photos featuring this user" filters. These do a search for the following tags: "me,selfportrait, flickr:user=username" on the users photostream, and return either the most recent or most interesting matching photos depending on the filter you choose.
Added recent+interesting "Photos tagged with..." filters, which works similar to the previous addition, except with this one you can choose the tag/s you want to search for.
I also fixed the "testimonials they wrote" filter and the intermittent stream duplication bugs.

steeev wrote there is a little bit of a bug when restoring your tags after storing them in flickrmail, any usernames with "non standard" characters may get a bit mangled ive fixed this bug now, and the script also has support for unicode tags. another feature is when clicking the add tag link, you can see if the contact has already been tagged or not, as it displays a list of that users tags in the dialog box.
i will next work on the improving adding tags functionality.

Werewolf pup ♥ wrote You forgot to mention that this program is only for Mozilla FireFox 2.0. I don't need to organize my contacts yet. It actually works in earlier versions of firefox as well, and possibly the flock browser too. BTW the script provides useful functionality, even if you just have a handful of contacts, give it a try :)

Is there a possibility to do a search of all "Photos they have commented on"? you could get roughly what you want with a
Google Search, i could make this into a filter i guess, also at some point the filters will have paging functionality.
btw v0.50 is now out and i included a new filter for contact details.

Google Search is working on some users, on others it displays even less results than your script. So, your script is better than Google, keep up the good work!
