Gamma - Sets within Sets

view profile

Hazelbrae  Pro User  says:

I saw a post somewhere where someone suggested that the new layout would result in the ability to do sets within existing sets (Europe > Paris > Everyday Life). Am I missing something or have I been misled?

Flickr never said they were going to have "Sets within Sets" so you weren't mislead by them. Many people have suggested and hoped for this, but we don't have it as of yet, but that doesn't mean we won't have it someday. I think it is a great idea, and very much needed, but Flickr never promised us this yet.

take a look at the new organizr.

while it is fundamentally better in a lot of ways than the old one, they pretty much had to start again from scratch.

if people are going to be managing "sets of sets", they will most likely be managing them in organizr. rebuilding the organizr section of the site will slow down features like sets of sets .. while also making such features better in the long run.

though apparently some people like the old organizr better.

I found the old Organizr really slow and clunky. The new version is way better, although I think the double-clicked photo pane is crying out for the option to pick tags you've already used - that makes me duck in and out of Organizr a lot.

One and a half thumbs up.

Sets within sets would be good, but it could quickly get confusing to navigate. I think that would probably suit people who store their holiday snaps on flickr more than it would suit me.

Sets within sets would be a wonderful feature, but nothing has been promised and it's already been beaten to death in the Flick support groups.

I don't think it's coming, but if it does it'll be wonderful.

i'm definitely in favor of making sets within sets. it would work great for those of us who go on ten day holidays for example and want one set for each day... and all those sets within an overall set like Greece... or Japan. again... i hope we can see it sometime soon.

i do like the new organizr... once i adjusted to the new style, i find it much easier than the old one.
