I'm with Dave. Sunset only because I'm not up for sunrise. I admit it. I'm too lazy to get up for sunrise!

I love the fresh feeling of sunrise - crisp like. At least where I live!

Sunrise... I'm an early riser and there are far fewer people out and about usually.

Watching a sun set over the water is a beautiful thing, indeed.

Sunset - prettier pictures in my opinion, plus it is way too early in the morning to get up and take pics of the sunrise.

Sunrise, but only after an all-nighter.
There's something enlightening about watching the sun come up while shit-faced, but that could be something to do with the drink...

Dare I say both? Where I live the sun rises over the ocean and sets over a bay.

Definitely sunset!
I like to sleep in, and sunsets in Florida are much more colorful than sunrises anyway, because in the afternoon there are more clouds which get painted by the sun. No clouds in the morning, unless we have a hurricane close by. In that case, I like to sleep thru the whole thing ;-)

If you can't be bothered to get up in the morning then it's your loss.

I don't actually remember ever seeing the sun rise.
Note to myself: See a sunrise before 31-Dec-2006.

Hopefully I'll get some better sunrise and sunset shots when I move this month.

Delighted to see this post has attracted the posting of some superb shots in either category.
But...does the preference say anything about a person's persona?
I mean to say...aside from getting out of bed issues...do you think, say, sunrisers are more optimistic (e.g. hopeful about what lies in store for the day ahead, what opportunities can be grasped)...whereas sunsetters are more pragmatic, deterministic (what's done is done, life is out of their hands)?

Sunrise for me - although it is extremely rare for me to witness - let alone photograph one. They are more subtle than sunsets, and also herald the start of a great day!

I like to see the day from both ends and enjoy photographing both sunrises and sunsets. If I have to choose between them, I would choose the sunrise.

I like both, but sunrise feels fresher and newer.

That morning was a cold morning, and the mist was rising off the lake. I was freezing in my tent, so I figures I might as well get up and walk around. And it's a good thing, too; I got some great photos that morning (including the only one I've had to make most interesting).

Sunset.

I'd like to see more pictures of things illuminated by a sunset, instead of where the sunset is actually the subject.
