I created a new group to post pictures from Portland's yearly "Bridge Pedal", a copmmunity bike ride over all of the city's bridges. This year there were 18000 people taking part!

Hello,
I have started a new group called
Where Once They Stood We Stand.
The basic idea is to collect images remembering our past, including personal, family, and public history, related to our most beloved Newfoundland and Labrador. One of the things that make this place, with its unique weather and easily traversed countryside, so special is people and family, and those things still here that remind us of them.
If you like this idea and have anything to contribute, please feel welcome to contribute.
We'll try it for a while and see how it goes.

Once upon a time the old hag let loose a loud yell and gave birth to her twins! One was evil. The other good. The evil one said "get naked", the good one said "trust me"! I will not hurt you but only if you let me taste that ice cream you've got there dripping from your curly brown hair , then I will take you to the other side and we will meet a friend there. Do you understand what this will mean? If we were to ever reveal the the true identity of the squirrel mayhem would rule the vast empty parking lots of time and space will become cluttered with the human effort of simply putting its own shopping trollies. A pair of trousers were dangling from his handlebars. He wanted to learn to fly, but the trousers were not very aerodynamic. and were made to be broken Crushed beneath the wheels of a giant tricycle that belonged to a a hag who yelled very loudly. Yelling would only help her discover that her twins were gone. Gone because they did not care and would not eat their dinner yesterday. Not because they meant any harm, But because they hurt their eyes staring at the glorious, eclipsed sun. when they looked through the binoculars they had to turn the focus. But an awesome sight was to be burned into their retinas with blinding love, forgive, move on and repeat for best results. I wonder if there really is such a thing as tasty, low carb variety meat but it didn't matter, because the dead weasel joined the Special Forces shopping carts have taken over the part time synchronised swimming team. However, we discovered that mules cannot swim IN WATER THIS CLOUDY AND GREY with run-off from the chemical plant. But shopping carts caulked with mud can steer the true path for those lost zebra we encountered earlier that had no stripes or eyes yet. Then we turned the corner and saw an indigo moon rising before it plunged into the sea and a giant walrus jumped up to look out of the window and declared everlasting condemnation upon the hoards that teemed along the horizon The walrus shook my shoulders saying, Bellow glorious songs of retribution and sorrow. And put some clothes on. Walk out the door. Pick up those piano scores, and go towards your destiny, do not halt but strive forward with upmost grace to wear those purple polyester pants and play your moog with flamboyant style. save the world from harm and remember your grandfather's dying wish, "I proclaim the magnificence of dark chocolate devour it when you are lost." Remain perfectly still in order to have that splinter removed from your lunchbox's rather colourful lid, as movement gurgles below the skin-like surface. I had a revelation of peace, love and bad breath and a hang over the walrus calmly stated: I am walrus the great, or no wait, In the age of aquarious. Look . . ." The twins, the walrus, me, and this shiny guns twins are holding rhubarb - but that doesn't make sense ...but wait, who am I? who gave me so much to drink? I am the instigator, the originator The evil one you once knew I created this; now I will turn the water in hot chocolate And bathe until it pours from My armpits. Dance upon the Hershey and swallow the planet as I spew yahoo from the bowels loudly What wisdom is gained from yahoo?

Okay, I'd already created three groups before discovering this discussion. I'll start with the honeymoon group, my first creation, which has been very slow to gather participants.
I was amazed that there wasn't a general Honeymoon group. Lots and lots of individual Honeymoon groups, but one to post those honeymoon pictures with universal appeal? Nary a one.
So, voila! Honeymoon Pictures

The fun hobby of tossing cameras up in the air in hopes that something interesting happens.
This is a group for folks who like abstract "chance" photography and are willing to take a risk. This is best practiced with cheap low-fi cameras but if you are willing and have a crash pad handy, go ahead, toss your 1300$ digital SLR. I dare you!
Starship of the Imagination
    
This group is for photos of any "space" or "subject" that resembles or makes you feel as if you might not be on this planet anymore.
Urban spaces that feel like the inside of a spacecraft, strange creatures that would not shock you if they walked up and said "greetings, earthling", and just about anything else that feels "otherworldly".
Kissr
    
A group for photos entirely of kissing. Now it has fun kissing challenges too!
Strobe (a technique group for flash photography)
    
A group for displaying and discussing photography technique surrounding the use of flashes and strobes.

Just type the digits of the year in the group search field and you will or will not find one.
If you are born in 1976 you should join this group.
People born in 1976, like me, have lifed both in the pre- and digitalised world. They are born before internet, cd-roms, computers, etc.
In the photo-pool of this group you will find excamples of how the world of people born in 1976 will look like. Do you reconize anything, or is it beyond your league?

Aberdonia
This is a place for people currently living in Aberdeen (or Aberdeenshire) or for people who are originally from the area.
It is a repository for photographs of all kinds, they can be of the region or not, studio work, natural, local, holiday snaps, photoshopped, blurred, new, old, whatever. The only condition is that the photographer is from Aberdeen(shire).
The only other limit is that all images must comply with the Flickr Terms of Use.
