This group is intended to collect photos about places and events in this friendly (and sometimes not so friendly) neighborhood that is Center Square. Bars, restaurants, concerts, LarkFest, Art on Lark, Tulip Fest, houses, shops, art galleries, gardens, churches, rabid hamsters, you name it..

Now where does Center Square start, and where does it end ? This is somehow flexible, but here are a few hints:

Quoting All About Albany: "The area between Washington Park and Empire Plaza, North of Madison Avenue and South of Washington Avenue, is home to some of Albany's finest and best-restored historic homes. It is bisected by Lark Street, which is really the only example of thriving mixed-use urban development in the city."

Quoting the Center Square Association: "Center Square is nestled between the State Capitol and Empire State Plaza to the east and beautiful Washington Park to the west. Theater, music, museums, libraries, festivals and the Hudson River are all within walking distance. On Lark Street and other nearby commercial streets, shopping, dining and nightlife abound."

Quoting France Iingraham Hein (Times Union?): "Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Center Square is a tree-lined neighborhood bounded by Lark, State, Swan and Jay streets, and taking in the upper portion of Lancaster Street between Lark and Willett streets. A short walk from restaurants, museums, boutiques, groceries, parks, the library, schools and public transportation, the area appeals to people of all ages."

Let's play nice and bind it loosely north and south between State/Spring St. and Madison Av., west and east between Willet St. and Swan St. (see Flick Geotagged Map or Google Map). This does not include Washington Park, strictly speaking, but hey, it's too nice to ignore :). Please make sure your pictures were shot inside the Center Square area, and tag them accordingly :)
