About New Orleans Cemeteries

Photos of New Orleans' unique above ground tombs and other burial practices in New Orleans and the surrounding Southern Louisiana area. Flickr member Ron Foxx is quoted as saying "New Orleans is where we bury the dead above ground, because here 'we're just a 'little' closer to heaven'. see a Swedish tourist's take on youtube: chayron.wordpress.com/category/resa/usa/. New Orleanians call their cemeteries "Cities of the Dead." Our "Laizzaire le bon temp rule" (Let the good times roll!) attitude dubs us "The City that Care Forgot". Post-Katrina, "Care" could refer to the old shot gun decaying under time and probably post-Katrina neglect. "Viva Nouvelle Orleans!" (Despite what our ex-recovery "Czar" has to say.)
