Question. Can it be a different color spear and can I use the circular wrench? I can't find the other kind of wrench right now

Yes. If you have the ones in the pic I'd prefer to see them used but otherwise it really doesn't matter much.

I've built three, two I think will be okay, but may be stretching the rules a bit. Should I just post it to the group and see if it lasts, or FlickrMail you about, or what?

Stretching the rules is fine, posting something that looks nothing like it belongs is not.

Me thinks I shall find a seat on the bandwagon. In fact I'd like to get a race group collab for Brickworld if that is ok. BTW, since I seem to see group shots of 3, is that the race size limit?

Instead of a spear, can it be some type of sharp poky thing?

Fradel> Go for it. The three is just the tolerance of people's photography efforts I suspect ;) If you want to assemble a race for BW go for it.
sam(us)> Changing to another sharp poky thing is fine. The sharp poky thing and round wrenchy thing keep them in the air.

Oh man, if that sharp poky thing goes into the round wrenchy thing...it would be sooo good. Yeah, I'll get to work on my own racer after I get back from work and whip up some ideas for the BW collab. It would go well with this years display theme of "Sky's the Limit." Its basically a celebration of anything that floats in the air or flies. The racer theme is something fresh and exciting for both new and old builder alike.

Adding a weapon to a racer is a pathetic act which runs counter to the gentlemanly sport of careening through caves at ridiculous speeds.

legoman31, It is best to have all the requirements nailed down.
Trans oarnge 1x1's are common enough I would think you would have at least two. But perhaps not.

Much like the world of racing, whether it be cave racing or bike racing or what have you, the LEGO hobby does require a certain commitment of time and funds. If you can't make these, take some time to get up to speed. I never got a chance to jump on the Pod bandwagon when I was coming out of my dark age. C'est la vie.
We all have wishes; taking the time to make them real... takes time.

I'd say no to the plate 1x1 with clip horizontal. Just reuse the wrench you have. You'll only have an issue when you want to photograph more than one in a group and then you can get creative with angles and such to hide the missing wrenches. Bricklink can have your wrenches to you within a week.
I built a car that I really like but it doesn't fit the requirements.

I have heard about Bricklink. From what I gathered is that it is a easy way to get certain bricks. What are the shipping prices? I would hope that they're cheap for just a tiny Lego.

Just out of curiousity, when did shovels become an acceptable substitute for wrenches? Have you ever tried to change a tire with only a shovel?

The Pigs on the Wing contest had a single rule change from spanners to shovels. Partially for amusement and partially to test if people would read the rules. I imagine the lack of an opposable thumb would be the real killer.

Agreed. I think I hit all the criteria. I wish I had known about this thread before I Flickrmailed Gambort so many questions. I'm sorry Gambort! No one ended up commenting on my caveracer here any -ways.

It is my understanding that on the racer you need a wrench and a spear, or something ... Pointy ?
