About The Catholic Restoration

Restoration of the Catholic patrimony in art and architecture is the goal of this group, for the purposes of spreading the faith and increasing sanctity. Its intent is to showcase photos of 21st-century Catholic architecture and art that both draw upon the great historical styles of the Church while also repudiating the errors of Modernism.

The art and buildings shown should be new: made after A.D. 2000, and should revive the traditional styles of the past, or at least adhere to the classical rules of beauty: proportion, symmetry, variety, unity, and harmony, and must include detail on all scales including the human scale. And as is fitting for Catholic art, it should display hierarchy and iconography, and be obedent to Scripture, Tradition, and the Magisterium.

New restorations of exiting buildings are also of great interest.

Works can be either complete, under constructtion, or even theoretical.

When submitting photos or drawings, please provide (in the description) a link to the artist or architect, and if the photo is of a church or building, please provide a link to the parish or institution web site.
