About Catasetinae

Originally, this group was intended for pictures of orchids of the subtribe Catasetinae, including ONLY the genera Catasetum, Clowesia, Cycnoches, Dressleria, and Mormodes, and their hybrids. The reason why I did not include Galeandra, Cyrtopodium and Grobya was because I had not been able to find any publication with data showing me these 3 genera were also closely related to the 5 original genera.

Today, I have received the two links below, where you can find good phylogenetic and taxonomic information relating all 8 genera in the same subtribe Catasetinae.

I must admit I am not still 100% convinced that cyrtopodium should join Catasetinae instead of staying as Cyrtopodinae itself.

The only rules for the pictures:

1.- ONLY Photos related to the Catasetinae.
2.- Photos of flowers, inflorescences and/or flowered plants, unless you want to show/discuss a particular interesting vegetative part of the plant.
3.- Plants should be identified, at least up to the genus level. If you want to add a plant and you are not sure about its ID, please start a discussion for its possible identification.
4.- It is not expected to have highest quality photography which could deserve a place in a National Geographic Magazine, but a certain level of quality is expected.... Of course, if you have NG quality photos, they are more than welcome ;)

And last but not least, any pictures not meeting the requirements given above, will be deleted...
