About Caring and carers

The aim of this group is for unpaid carers to share their experiences of looking after a loved one. Most people at some point in their lives will look after a family member or friend who has a disability or illness - a daughter looking after her frail mother; a husband caring for his wife who had a stroke; a mother looking after her disabled daughter over a lifetime.

With 1 in 5 carers forced to give up work, it is not a responsibility anyone enters into lightly. Caring can be personally rewarding, yet it can also bring ill health, poverty and isolation.

This group is for carers to post photographs of their lives to help generate better understanding and recognition of the contribution carers make to society. Photos can include any aspect of an individual's experience of caring and those you care for. If you are posting photographs of the person you care for please ensure you have their support and consent.

This is a family group and only 'safe' photos are accepted. This group was created by Carers UK, a UK charity set up by carers which provides information and services and campaigns for better support for carers.
