In 1872 Friedrich Nietzsche wrote a crazy book called 'The Birth of Tragedy' in which he created the concept of THE DIONYSIAN - a primal force hidden in the depths of life, art and the individual. Elusive and ambiguous it is difficult to explain but here are some pointers - it involves annihilation of the individual, intoxication and disolved sense of self, ultimate freedom, understanding and acceptance of the horror of death and innermost ecstasy.
For my finals I am writing an essay arguing that the medium of photograghy has allowed the Dionysian to be represented in modern art. Please help me out by posting any photos which you feel tap into this subconscious energy somehow!!! THANKYOU xxx
