07 Dec 11 - It's hard to tell a Capitol Corridor train from a San Joaquin, as they use the same equipment. However, if its an Amtrak California train caught on the UP Roseville, Martinez, Niles or Coast Subdivision, feel free to post! Great selection so far; keep 'em coming!

One potential clue: If it has an 8200-series (Bay names) coach-baggage car behind the engine it's most likely a San Joaquin.

My sincere thanks to El Cobrador for adding this information!

About Capitol Corridor

This group is dedicated to Amtrak California's Capitol Corridor. The 168 mile route connects the Bay Area with Sacramento & Auburn. Since its inception in 1992, the Capitol Corridor has become Amtrak's fourth busiest route nationwide.

The Capitol Corridor passes through diverse environments, from gritty urban areas to lush wetlands. The goal of this group is to chronicle the Capitol in action, from the busy platforms at Emeryville to the open farm fields at Elmira. If you have a shot of the Capitol in action, feel free to post!

Ground Rules: No roster shots of engines or cars and no shots where freight trains are the main subject (yes, UP sometimes puts on a great show, but this group is dedicated to the Capitol Corridor system). Please limit your uploads to 5 pictures a day.

Sit back, grab some coffee or tea, and enjoy the Capitol Corridor!
