About Capital Region Capture Photo Contest

We Have Chosen Our Winners!

We received over 300 entries in our Capital Region Capture Photo Contest – stunning pictures of Places and Spaces from all over the Capital Region, representing the broadest possible range and variety.

Our panel of judges has selected three winning entries.

The City-Region Studies Centre wishes to thank and congratulate everyone who entered the contest.



About the Capital Region Capture Photo Contest- Places and Spaces

Photographs were be judged for

Originality,
Composition, and
Relevance to the theme Places and Spaces

The winners were selected by a panel of judges from the University of Alberta. The winners were announced in January 2010. Decision of the judges is final.

The contest ran until November 20, 2009, and was open to everyone including non-residents of the Capital Region.*


PRIZES

First:
+
One 3-piece set of Victorinox luggage valued at over $1000, sponsored by Uniglobe Travel; AND a gift certificate at the Delta Centre Suite Hotel for one night's accommodation and brunch, valued at $600!


Second:

A $400 gift certificate for photofinishing and other services at McBain Camera, Edmonton.


Third:

"Capital Modern - A Guide to Edmonton Architecture & Urban Design" book, sponsored by M.A.D.E. in Edmonton.


RULES


1. Photos must be originals.
2. Photos must have been taken in Edmonton or one of the surrounding communities. PLEASE LABEL the photo with the location of where it was taken.
3. Limit of five (5) entries per person. No re-posting.
4. No nudity or provocative images.
5. Administrator reserves the right to remove photos and/or members.



PUBLICATION AND COPYRIGHT

The University of Alberta, City-Region Studies Centre, reserves the non-exclusive right to publish any entry and/or use any entry in promotional material. Model releases are the responsibility of the entrant. All photos will be credited to the photographer.

With regard to any photograph submitted to this contest, you, or the owner of copyright in the photograph, retain all copyright. By submitting any photograph to this contest, you grant (or warrant that the owner of such materials expressly grants) The University of Alberta, City-Region Studies Centre, and licensors a world-wide, royalty-free, irrevocable and non-exclusive right and license to use, copy, adapt, transmit, communicate, publicly display and perform, distribute and create compilations and derivative works or merchandise from any such submitted photograph to promote the contest. You represent and warrant that you have the right to grant the license set out above.
