About Cape Town Pub Crawl
Fast becoming an established event on the Cape Town calendar, an annual event that takes place on the last weekend in March, the Cape Town Pub Crawl is designed as a unique way to experience the heritage, diversity, culture and nightlife of the oldest and most beautiful city in South Africa, while visiting some of the best pubs and bars that our city has to offer.
Starting at mid-day, we visit 10 venues throughout the inner-city, in as many hours. Your mission is to have a drink (a pint of beer, or a shot of tequila - whatever you fancy) at each venue on the route. Unless you're just coming along for the walk and a good day out with friends, which is perfectly acceptable too. All venues along the route are within walking distance.
10 pubs, 10 pints, 10 hours
The inaugural Cape Town Pub Crawl was held on St. Patrick's Day (15 March 2008) and themed "Buitengracht to Buitenkant and Back"! Starting at 12pm and finishing at 10pm, the general idea was to visit 10 pubs in 10 hours, having a drink at each.
The crawl started and finished at The Fireman's Arms and followed a circular route around the inner-city, including the following pubs: The Crow Bar, Purple Turtle, City Hall Pub, Barney's Pub (Kimberley Hotel), Perseverance Tavern, Stag's Head, The Dubliner @ Kennedy's, Neighbourhood and Ché Bar.
The route is now updated with each event.
