About Cape Point, South Africa

Cape Point Nature Reserve was declared a conservation area in 1938 and incorporated into the peninsula spanning Table Mountain National Park in 1998. Situated in a city of more than 3 million people and on a peninsula famous for its unique flora, fauna and spectacular scenery, the nature reserve is unique worldwide.

The reserve protects many endangered species, including four whale species, three dolphin species, four tortoise species, seventeen limpet species, 250 bird species, and a staggering 1016 species of Fynbos (but this is a mere 12% of the 8200 species of Fynbos found in the Cape which form the smallest, and richest of the world's six floral kingdoms)
