Fisheye lens for low light conditions
|
Hi all,
I'm looking for a fisheye lens that I could also use for concerts etc. It doesn't have to be able to zoom. 500 dollar is the maximum I could pay for it.
Any auggestions would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

$250 will buy you a Zenit 16mm f2.8 fisheye, it's completely manual, but it will fit any EOS body, it's super fast and super wide, I've never used a fisheye for concert photography, but I'm sure the Zenit would do the trick.

Oh, that sounds great. That would fit the Digital Rebel 300d? Thanks!

I'm not sure if it comes with an adaptor or if it just fits straight onto the body, but yeah it will fit any EOS camera, a couple of links for you below about the lens itself.

I have a Peleng 17mm f2.8 full-frame fisheye (~$250) similar to the Zenit. I originally bought it for an old AE-1 camera, but I use it with my XT from time to time. It requires an adapter with the XT. A few things to be aware of with Zenit/Pelengs:
1. Instruction manual is all Russian
2. Distances on lens are metric
3. All adjustments are manual (just set the camera to M)
4. The fisheye effect isn't real noticable with the 1.6 crop
5. It's VERY hard to get an accurate focus with the XT viewfinder. (Unless you shoot farther than 5 feet away from your subject).
