Stuck aperture

I have a 28mm f2.8 which developed a stuck aperture and would not focus lock.
I heard that the 35mm f2 has the same problem and is of the same build.
I did some research and found that there wasn't alot of information.

Although I did find this which I tried (as my lens had no warranty):

Solder a new set of 3 wires to the ribbon points bypassing the ribbon. Use thin flexible wires . The ribbon must be chopped first as there is no other way. It's fiddly and would only do this as a last resort. This method can also fix broken focus, as the ribbon your bypassing is flimsy and often breaks.

Canon EF 35mm f/2 repair by fеlix

The fix temporarily worked but then the aperture was stuck again.

I found a post suggesting a fix for sticky aperture and gave it a try.
Switch camera to AV mode. set aperture to f22 and press ap preview button a few times. This may unlock the aperture stick. Then keep pressing it over and over to give it some expercise.
This worked for me. Not sure for how long, but it is still working.

I suggest you try the easy AV fix first as ther other one is definately a last resort!

I am posting this information purely because I couldn't find much elsewhere.

Lastly your camera is your responsibility, If you choose to try any of these methods it is on your own head. I will not take any responsibility for any broken lenses or cameras.
DO NOT TRY METHOD 1 IF YOUR LENS IS WITHIN WARRANTY OR YOU CAN FIND A LOW COST DEALER TO REPAIR IT.

just bought my 35mm f2. tried the 28mm f2.8. the 35mm to my opinion is very sharp, fast and very noisy!! not an issue for photo but for video. the 28mm soiunds ideal but I find its not sharp enough given its a prime. Heard about it in review and thought its an "over comment" but when I tried I surprisingly can detect it. I heard about 17mm f3.5 Tokina from my teacher after buying the 35mm !!!!Errrkkk...!!!! It looks good but f3.5 not sure how fast that is. I used to have samyang 8mm f3.5 fish eyes, great but not tact sharp. But indeed for my 35mm f2 so far no mechanics problem except its noisy. tried a few copy and its all noisy so its the lens properties.

Thanks for the tip re the ap preview button. My 35mm f2 jammed a few days ago (ie the aperture blades jammed in the closed position and I get an ERR1 message), and that seems to be fixing it (at least temporarily).

Not sure I'd really trust it again though. An I was obliged to buy another lens in the meanwhile...
