Hello all,
Welcome to the Camera Parade group. As you may have noticed, there are quite a bit of camera collection pool around, so what's different about this one?
Well this is a group for those of us who took the time to "parade" our cameras. I also like the term "Camera Fashion Shots", both implies deliberate effort to create a nice picture featuring a camera. However "Fashion Shots" can mislead people to think that this group is about Fashion (as in outfit) pictures. "Camera Parade" is clear and concise.
The main goal of this pool is to create a growing catalog of camera pictures that will IMPRESS the viewers in a "wow, that's beautiful" -way. Unlike a snapshot of one's gears, it takes some thinking and creativity to do this.
Cameras has the charm of a self contained intricate mechanisms that are not dissimilar to jewelry and or watches. Usually, the older the camera, the prettier they make them, but not always. Therefore this pool accepts all sorts of camera pictures from the 8x10 plate behemoths, to the amoebic spy cameras, from daguerreotypes to the latest digital gadgets.
The point is to challenge your CREATIVITY. Creating a photograph that can take its viewer's breath away is NOT easy. Use props, (a)symmetry, lighting effects, etc. Clever, matching, or complementary background is always a good idea. In short, enhance your camera's beauty, or make a nice shot off an ugly camera.
Here are the guidelines for posting your pictures in this pool:
Ask yourself, why are you taking a picture of your camera? if the answer is:
1. "because I want to show the world the prettiest side of my camera"
2. "because I want to challenge myself to make the best still-life photograph featuring my camera"
3. "because I want people to WOW over my camera"
4. "because there's something whimsical/clever/awesome about this camera, and I want to show it"
... then you're welcome.
If however, the answer is:
1. "because I had to take a picture for online auction"
2. "because I'm making a step-by-step repair guide"
3. "because I'm bored"
... then your pictures will likely be deleted (of course there are some exceptions to this, I've seen beautiful camera pictures on the big giant online-auction site).
If your picture is deleted and you're looking for an explanation, re-read this very simple guideline, it's in there somewhere :)
That's all, unless I can think of something else to add. Have fun!
