When I set up the group, I never really thought to define an absolute group criteria, but its a good question. I think it comes down to the following:
If it is your intent to make something new or different, to be creative.
If you modify your camera in a way to make it do something it was never intended to.
If your creation comprises of parts of more than one camera (of a different model).
Modifications should be related to the lens or image capture device (film, sensor) areas of the camera.
Painting your Leica with camo paint doesnt qualify... (tho i would personally make an exception for anyone mad enough to actually do this)
Home repairs: Tho the knowledge learned is vitally usefull and alot of us have done them, do not qualify either.
Pictures of a home repair process presented as a "how to" would be acceptable, if the information was usefull to other camera makers but not images taken with the repaired camera.
Please feel free to submit your Thoughts, Amendments, Additions and I will add it to the group description when we have arrived at a definitive statement. I would like this to be a collective definition not one imposed by me..
