About Cambridge Obscura
This is a group for Cambridge photographers – not just photographers of Cambridge.
There are already several fine groups (Cambridge, Quintessential Cambridge, Cambridge University Botanic Garden) showcasing the flawless beauty of the university and its related sights.
Cambridge Obscura is a repository for everything else the city has to offer: places, people, things. We're looking for images of Cambridge that are unique, artistic, quirky, odd, alive, observant, individualistic – even ugly.
In other words, this is the group for pictures taken in Cambridge that wouldn't make it onto a picture postcard sold at the Trinity Street post office!
The emphasis is on your experiences whilst here in Cambridge – be it for three years as a student, or born and bred, old or young. Images of this town from different perspectives gives us the opportunity to discover things we miss ourselves through a fresh set of eyes – and to savour the clash. Let's see the ugly utilitarian '60s town planner's monstrosites alongside the grandeur of the gown, and perspectives of the people who make Cambridge tick.
This is an invitation-only, gently curated group to help maintain focus, but we appreciate submissions from all ages, abilities and aesthetic visions.

Right now we're building the group by offering:
1. an invitation to add one of your photos to the group (i.e. if we invite your photo, you are also invited to join the group)
2. direct invitations to photographers
3. membership to interested photographers when they submit a photo; when the photo is admitted, the photographer is automatically invited to join the group.
Please note that we're only accepting photos taken in Cambridge (UK!), so the image tags, title or description should ideally have some indication of this.
