About La Camargue
In the South of France, just above the town of Arles, the Rhône River splits into two: Le Petit Rhône and Le Grand Rhône. Between the two rivers is a vast River Delta that leads to the Mediterranean Sea. This area is called La Camargue and is protected as a regional park.
I moved to Arles last September, and in an effort to get to know the region, I've fallen in love with it. The Camargue is known for its beautiful white horses, aggressive black bulls, and hundreds of species of birds - including flamingos. It is rich in tradition, like the annual gypsy pilgrimage to Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer and the Course Camarguaise. Rice and salt are produced here, the Mistral blows through fairly often, and I've heard rumors that clouds of mosquitos will soon descend upon us.
This group is for all things Camarguaise: the landscape, the agriculture, the animals, the people, etc. I'd love to learn more about this incredibly diverse region, so if you live in the area or enjoyed visiting, please post your pictures! You are welcome to add up to 4 photos a day.

Merci!
