About Calming Signals / Dogs can speak!

Using dogs, like wolves, social skills to avoid aggression and stop. We are not used to read these signals, they do not fall for us, or are not clear. With due attention, training and understanding you can understand what your dog is trying to tell and you can reply in his language.
Calming signals are used as prevention of conflicts (conflict-avoiding since dogs are pack animals, otherwise not survive the pack), long before a conflict arises. They should avoid threats and challenges and they should stress and anxiety, nervousness, loud noises and other unpleasant things mute. The signals can also be used by the dog to calm themselves. The signals also serve to make all parties more confident.
Our dogs inherit this way of communicating and dogs all over the world have the same signals, regardless of race, size, color or shape. It is a universal language.

Calming signals are:

Tongelen: The honOgen turn away quickly with his tongue licking lips or nose. Often used the dog in criminal (or if he / she expected punishment) or if another dog approaches.

Leg lift: The dog lifts one of his legs, but he does not want a leg to give as many people think, but feel in some way threatened.

Yawn: yawn Usually the dog not because he's lazy. Pay attention on the stimuli it receives from the environment.

Head turn: When meeting other dogs or people running the dog's head off. In order to appease others.

Eyes turn away: The dog will soon move his eyes as his head can not turn away because one held.

Gentle look: the dog looks down at an angle and let the eyes slightly so that he gets a gentle expression.

In a bow somewhere walking: a wide arch with the dog somewhere. In this way, a dog is a different approach nearer without the other feels threatened. Dogs do the same with people or things they are afraid of something.

Slow down: This is the dog if he feels threatened.

Freezing or freeze: this happens if the dog is another dog sniffed at, even if the dog is heavy or frequently punished.

Sit or lie: The dog does this often with the back or butt toward the threat.

Hopping: The dog does not do anything to make the situation seem to have such a sudden interest sniffing around or suddenly playing with a stick. He uses this approach to explain the situation to do nothing to want.

Wag: People think that a wagging dog happy, but that's not always so. Wag is an expression of emotion. Pay attention also to other signals that the dog shows, often indicates a tight wag a calming signal.

Game Arc: The rear hand up, hand down the front and an arched back, the dog that he has no bad intentions, but the other is trying to lure into play.

Urination: In young dogs is often called humility puddle.

Most of these signals are well we perform. Go aggressive dogs never punish, reward aggression with aggression only increases aggression. It is better to give calming signals, dogs in this manner are viewed less likely to be aggressive about. If a dog is a task not performed correctly, do not rebuke him. The cause may be that the engagement he gives insufficient controls or maybe some calming signals because the situation for him a little too stressed. Dogs find it threatening when they are straight in the eye. People find it too uncomfortable, it is therefore difficult to someone long in the eyes. Fights among dogs usually begin with direct eye contact. Therefore avoid eye contact with their dogs head to avert their eyes or turn away to look gentle.

Stress:

If the environment of the dog is more predictable and manageable - so he can exert no influence on what is happening around him - the dog experiencing stress. A little stress is not a problem, but there is too much stress can cause physical and mental ailments. Dogs are often in stressful situations by themselves unfamiliar situations. This is partly due to the busy society, but often also the stress caused by the owner because it is too high (training) requirements on the dog. Stress is more common in training based on punishment. One speaks of an (over) stressed dog as he quickly shows three stress signals whether a given stress signal sequence shows much. Many stress signals correspond to the aforementioned calming signals. This can be explained as calming signals also have a mission to calm the dog. When dogs are stressed, there is a high probability of fear aggression. Bite Incidents can be prevented by paying attention to these signals and find the right way to act. That means for example that one should avoid direct eye contact and not entitled to the dog to walk. Self calming signals, the stress level of the dog down.

Stress signals include:

Yawning: This is not because the lazy dog.
Panting: Excessive panting while it is not hot or the dog has made an effort.

Shake: The shaking of the coat while it is not wet.

Shake, tremble with fear.

Leg lift: A lift from his legs, sometimes alternating left and right. Often it is said: nice, he wants a leg, but that's not the case. A dog gives himself only one leg as he that is learned.

Loll / licking mouth: Sometimes the dog just a small piece of his tongue, but sometimes he licks his whole mouth, and even his nose.

Smack: The dog makes smacking noises with his lips.

Wag: wagging a misconception that a dog is always happy, this is not so. Wag is an expression of emotion and stress is usually a tight wag.

About Jump sniff: The dog suddenly seems interested in anything to be tension to flow.
