About Calling All Children's Librarians!

This group is for anyone who wants to promote literacy with children, especially Children's Librarians, School Media specialists, teachers, or reading tutors. It was started by a Children's Librarian who works in a Public Library.

The group pool will include pictures taken in libraries or classrooms, pictures of storytelling visuals such as puppets, felt boards, etc., reading promotion posters made by you, the interiors of children's services areas in libraries, reading nooks, and other things related to youth literacy.

Group discussions can be on topics such as ideas or plans for library programs or storytimes, songs or fingerplays you want to share, book reviews, questions you might have that you could use opinions and advice from other youth services people, and hopefully lots of idea sharing.

If you request to join the group, please tell me a little about yourself, especially the nature of your work with children and literacy. You don't have to tell me the name of where you work unless you want to.

Please note: I will not allow anyone to join if they have no info at all on their Flickr site, and nothing to indicate that they really work with kids. I cannot in good conscience allow members into a group with children's photos without some evidence that they are who they claim to be, and not just someone who likes to look at photos of children. I know that if you are really someone who works with children, you will understand the reasons for this. My library does background checks on everyone who works with kids, and I cannot do that, so I do what I can.
