It's great to see that as a group we are growing. If I haven't yet, I would like to welcome all of our new members. The photos are all wonderful, keep up the great work!

If you would, take a moment to introduce your cat(s) to the rest of us so we can get to know them.

My two cats:

McCullough

Eep

McCullough is a sweet calico-tabby who was a friend's cat for a while, but the other cats hated her. So McCullough came over to live with my husband and I for "just a little while" which was 4 years ago. She's very sweet, even if she's not the brightest cat in the world.

Eep was a feral kitten I rescued from the side of a busy highway in Huntsville, AL. Due to a false positive FIV test, Eep spent most of her kitten months in isolation. As a result, she desperately wishes she could be an only kitty, and has some agression problems. Hence her nickname, Destroyer of Hands. :)

She is our only cat since her sister died, I have an old photo of her I will try to scan, because I havent seen a cat with markings like she had before.
Something I'd like to ask, are all calico cats so "chatty"? The ones I've known tend to be more than averagely expressive!

Tika
I have a tortishell who will sometimes answer to Tika. She is the most beautiful thing every. We got her at the San Antonio Humane Society when she was only 5 weeks old. My husband wanted a "boy" cat to keep our Grey Taby (Dodie) company after his best friend Gato passed away. Needless to say she won him over and is his cat. She will put up with me because he seems to like me and I know where the treats are.

My other one was called Sweety. She passed away suddenly on 11-17-05. The autopsy revealed just one heart worm. We had no clue she was sick. She was playing as usual that morning with the others. Just dropped and in seconds was dead. The vet says thats how heart worms do in cats. There are no syptems or signs as in dogs. Just the sudden death. We miss her badly. This was our Sweety:

I would like to announce I have another member of my feline family, and a calico to boot. I would like to formally introduce Caliadne Gwenhwyfar Bellatrix - Callie, Bellatrix, or Bella (which is Latin for "beautiful") for short.

~ Caliadne - Greek, "beautifully holy", the name of a Nymph of the Nile River
~ Gwenhwyfar - Celtic/Welsh mythology, gwyn "white, fair" and hwyfar "smooth", French/English form is Guinevere
~ Bellatrix - Latin, feminine "warrior"

She responds to Callie, Caliadne, or Bellatrix. She got the name Bellatrix because she holds her own in a fight, won't back away from one, and generally wins. She has a solid white belly, and is a sleek long-hair, hence Gwenhwyfar.

Callie was a stray that I was able to adopt through the generosity of catbloggers, who contributed to her vet fund. You can read Callie's entire story on my blog: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7.

I would also like to take this opportunity to tell everyone what a great group this has turned out to be, even if I have been lurking in my own group for longer than I maybe should have without contributing or commenting. I'm proud of all of you who have made this group a success. Kitty treats for everyone! =^..^=

Here is my fabulous (6 month old) feline, Miss Piccadilly. It's pretty obvious from the photo that she has no intention of moving, further proving that she is in charge and that I am just the being that fills her food dish and tells her to get down from the kitchen counter. She couldn't care less if she had a name because she has no intention of coming to you when you call anyway. Although, shouting the phrase "what is in your mouth?!" causes her to run behind the bed so she can finish eating that piece of fuzz she found on the floor in peace. She is an expert hunter; stalking and defeating at least 2 socks a day. In her spare time she enjoys pushing various objects off of desks, retrieving used paper towels from the garbage, and clawing her way from the floor up my body to my shoulders where she likes to lay and view her world from above.

This is our sweet little goddessangel wif fur and purr, Sissy. She's predominantly a solar absorber on her top: black tipped with tan and orange on top, and a reflector on her bottom bits: white, for the most part.

Her fur is soft like an Angora rabbit and she's got a purr that can knock a person to sleep in no time (in her Purr Therapist aspect). Many times her rumble starts when we merely start talking to her. The paw pads on her left front and back right feet are pink AND black and she has the tiniest black freckle on the edge of her nose.

Oh and she's a snaggletooth too--her left canine is twice as long as the right and sticks out past her lip :) I'd try for a photograph but I'm not sure how white tooth on white fur would show up.

She is such a sweet and gentle souled cat. I've totally fallen in love with calicos since she came into our lives.

She does have her own set in my photostream, so if you click on her photo here and go to its page, you'll find her set in the list.

Update: Our little mild-mannered calico has developed a new side to her personality: 'Bruce Sissy, Flying Feet of Fury'. We don't understand the inter-feline communication, but sometimes she goes after the Bubbacat and tells him off.

I just realized I never introduced my tortoiseshell kitten, Sophie:

sophie's on the bed!!!

she was a feral kitten who I adopted from a friend's backyard in November -- she was quite wild, I barely saw her at all for the first two weeks she lived in my house, incredibly skittish. but she's gradually mellowing out & turning into a devilish and charming little girl -- very smart, & very mischievous:

sophie chasing string

plotting

sophie on cushion

she shared the house with my white cat, Louise, who is nearly 15 years old & so gets a bit annoyed with Sophie's kitten/whirling-dervish qualities, but when she's quiet they get along fine:

All of these pictures of kittens is seriously making me want another baby kitty to add to the family. Sigh...

Anyway, I never introduced myself when I joined a couple of weeks a go. This is my Pheobe. Named for Pheobe of "Friends" fame because when I rescued her on the side of the highway she smelled awful and I instantly thought of "smelly cat".
Rocking Chair

She's 11 years old this spring and as sweet and calm natured as they come. Very affectionate too.

I had just lost my 18 y/o Maine Coon, and suddenly here was this tiny calico kitten someone found in the woods. I'd always heard calicos had ATTITUDE and boy is that the truth. We tried a number of names out, but nothing seemed to fit until we began calling her Silly Kitty (to go with our cocker Silly Girl). Silly Kitty is about 8 years old now - we celebrate April 1st. She keeps the dog in line, sleeps with me, and generally ignores my husband!

I just have to say that these kitties are Just BEAUTIFUL! and I came across this site actually by looking up information on Tortishell's. Me and my husband of almost three yrs recently moved and I was just dying for a cat, seeing how i have rescued atleast 8 all under 5 weeks old except for 4 and which all stay at my mothers and me being a lover of cats for 21 yrs now, i couldn't do without my own in my new place and the torti that i have now was actually one that i rescued her name is SNICKERS, she was actually my sister-in-laws sister's kitty and i feel in-love with and had to have her, I also have her brother which was my sister-in-laws but i took him from her "haha" and he is a solid peach-colored tabby that is a polyductile " more than regular amount of toes" but Snickers is my torti and she is almost 6 months old and is so different than the cats i've ever known, shes very vocal but she almost has no meow at all she sounds horse, but she makes up for it when she plays .she growls and groans and carries on,and i don't know if its just her but her tail is ALWAYS straight up in the air and always has a curl in the tip of it like a monkey or squirl i can't wait for you all to meet her but i will post some pictures of her soon

I only join Flickr this week so all of this is new to me but im slowly getting the hang of it. Thank you mira d'oubliette for your advise on how to load in the images, im going to attempt it below.

This is my cat Mali (pronounced Mally), short for Malachi!

I got her off a friend, and ive had her for almost two years.
She looks so sweet and innocent.

But shes not!

For Example: If i make her get off the dining table because i dont want her on it she will attack me.
She will bite and scratch until she draws blood and she will continue attacking until i manage to lock her in another room.
After a few minutes in the other room she calms down and shes so happy to see me again!

Ive had cats all my life (inc. another tortiseshell) bt none have been like her.
She has some issues, but shes a lovely cat (most of the time) and i wouldn't change her for the world!

Hi all,

Our calico, Guppy, is a hefty bundle of love. We adopted her in February 2007 (when she was known as Celia) from a shelter in Alexandria, Va. She had lived in two other home previously, and we can't imagine why she was given up by either place. She's five now. Her new name comes from her habit of "swimming" between our feet, looking like a koi fish with the patterns on her back.

farm3.static.flickr.com/2017/1509640736_1fe6cdf033.jpg?v=0

Our older girl, Sweetie, is a 12-year-old Maine coon, or at least something very close to one. She did not take well to Guppy's sudden appearance in our household, but we wanted another companion for her following the death of our oldest girl, a tuxedo cat named Granny, at the end of 2006. Sweetie and Guppy now tolerate each other pretty well, thankfully, and we will soon have a much bigger space for them to live in and not bump into each other so much in cramped passages, which is where the trouble between them usually happens.

This is Belle. We call her Baby Belle because our last cat was also a tortie named Belle. We adopted Baby Belle from a shelter that had cats on display at a Petsmart. Our previous Belle had died a few months prior, and when my son and me went over to look at the cats, there she was a tortie with the name Belle on her cage. Of course, we HAD to adopt her and so we are now in the era of Belle II.
