About RBS Caledonian Challenge 2007
The Caledonian Challenge 2007, sponsored by RBS, The Royal Bank of Scotland, is perhaps the most challenging, rewarding and fastest-growing outdoor endurance event of its’ kind. Walking 54 miles in under 24 hours is no mean feat!
The RBS Caledonian Challenge 2007 takes place on 16th and 17th June and involves over 1500 participants in corporate or individual teams of between three and six, walking 54 miles non-stop along the West Highland Way. Starting in Fort William the route passes through some of Scotland’s most spectacular scenery – up Glen Nevis, down the Devil’s Staircase, across Rannoch Moor, past Crianlarich and finishing at Ardlui on the shores of Loch Lomond.
All teams are asked to raise a minimum of £500 sponsorship per walker (with the aim to raise over £1 million) for the Scottish Community Foundation, a unique charity that supports local charities and community groups throughout Scotland. To date over 9,500 people have taken up the challenge and between them have raised over £7 million and clocked up over 513,000 miles. That's the equivalent to walking to the moon and back.
