About Bringing Caldwell to Light

Smithsonian Institution Libraries created this group to encourage others to share images related to Caldwell & Co. Caldwell was America’s premiere design and manufacturing firm of electric light fixtures and decorative metalwork from 1895 to the mid-20th century.

Based in Manhattan, their work can still be found in numerous buildings throughout New York City and across the country. That’s why we thought this group would be a good way to gather and share images of their diverse and beautiful work.
