About Genus Calceolaria
The group is dedicated to the appreciation and photographic documentation of the native species of the genus Calceolaria and related small genera in the Family Calceolariaceae, formerly included in the polytypic family, Scrophulariaceae. Any and all photos of SPECIES in the wild or in cultivation are welcome; however, this group is NOT intended for photos of cultivated hybrids in the commercial plant trade. There is already an existing group for these "Pocket-plants"

and I have little interest in them. This group is for naturally-evolved species Calceolaria and related genera only. Aside from Calceolaria, there are only two other genera included in the Calceolariaceae, Jovellana and and Poroditta. Photos of species from these genera are also welcome in this Group.
While unidentified plants are welcome, labels and tags including the full species names (binomials) are appreciated and encouraged. Location information is also appreciated. There is no limit to the number of photos you can post, only that they be of species Calceolarias.
The genus Calceolaria consists of over 270 species and many additional subspecies found almost entirely in Central and South America. The vast majority of these many forms are found in the Andean countries of South America, particularly Ecuador, Peru and Chile. The other two genera of the Calceolariaceae are much small, with six accepted species in Jovellana and only one in Porodittia.
It should be mentioned that I am far from expert in this Family, and would appreciate any corrections to my tentative identifications and/or IDs from my undetermined photos. I'm here to learn as well!
