About Ca'd'Zan (House of John [Ringling])

By the 1920s, John Ringling's circus fortune placed him on the cover of TIME Magazine as one of the wealthiest men in America. He and his beloved wife, Mable, acquired large tracks of land in Sarasota, Florida in hopes of creating a winter paradise. They determined that their home on Sarasota Bay would emulate the dazzling architecture of Venice. The pages which follow are a pictorial history of the mansion they built which eventually gained significance beyond its repute as the curiously ornate residence of a rich showman.
