About Nicaragua's Butterflies of Hope

Butterflies are the symbol of Amnesty's solidarity campaign for girls and young women in Nicaragua where rape and sexual violence are widespread.

In Nicaragua on 28 September, thousands of women, men and children will march in protest. They want an end to the violence and the repeal of the total ban on abortion.

Supporters across the globe can stand with the women and girls by creating butterflies and messages of hope to send to Nicaragua.

Your butterfly can join the march. Amnesty will send the butterflies to Nicaragua to show the solidarity of people worldwide.

So far thousands of butterflies have been created worldwide, some of which you can see here.
