About Bush's Sole
Recently, an Iraqi journaist made headlines when he showed is anger at President Bush and the debacle that has become the Iraqi Occupation by throwing his shoes at him during a surprise press conference.
Those who weren't aware quickly learned that the sole of a shoe is insulting or disrespectful when pointed at or touched against another person in certain cultures. Bush himself, in his typical eloquence, compared it to the American hand gesture of waving without all of your fingers.
Shortly after the world began to rally behind this reporter, a photo was released of an Iraqi child smiling while holding a shoe with "Bush" written on the sole.
It probably might not surprise people in Iraq to know that many people in the US feel the same way about the outgoing President and his unjustified war. As good as it might feel to give him the finger, it might communicate our mutual feelings if we voice our grievances with the outgoing administration in the language of those who have had their country torn apart with no disregard for the consequences.
Write Bush's name on the bottom of your shoe, and a picture of it here for the world to see.
