It sounds like the bus portion will be fun. Too bad I live in Baltimore. I will have to meet up with the group at Longwood gardens. Otherwise I would have to get up at 4:30am and not get back until 8pm. That is just too long of a day for me.
I am really looking forward to this trip. I will have lots of new macro goodies to try out.
I will be sure to spread the word so we can get the bus filled up.

Kelly would it cause any problems if those of us meeting the group at the garden's purchased our tickets separately? Which approach would cause fewer hassles?
I don't know if I will have time to get into the mansion. I plan on doing a lot of macro photography in the gardens since they allow tripods :)

Because of the special combo ticket pricing they are currently offering with Winterthur, you don't have to be in a group to get both tickets for $20.
ALSO, if you are in Baltimore and don't feel like driving, we could arrange to pick you up on the way at a designated spot. I have some folks in DC interested in going and, if they pony up the money, then we will be picking them up at a to-be-designated commuter lot.

I hate to make you guys stop for just one or two people. This would mean less time at the garden's. If you have a number of people who want to add a stop, then I am for it. But any less than 5 I think would not be worth it for you guys.
Let me know if you are going to have a DC/Columbia/Baltimore area stop.
I don't want to make this anymore complicated than necessary, but let me know either way.

Will do!
But we would only be stopping for about 10 minutes, long enough to get whoever we're picking up's butt on the bus, so it wouldn't really add much time. It would be understood that if you're not there on time, we leave to get those already on the bus to the church on time.

We have our first two official bookings for this trip. Woohoo!
They are not Guild members, but were referred by a Guild member, so if any of you guys are planning to go please contact me sooner than later. We have an ad appearing in the Brunswick newspaper today and this may start booking up quickly. There are only 36 seats on the bus and I know of at least five people from the last meeting who said they were definitely going, but have not even sent me an email.
I need moola to confirm your spot. Don't let someone else buy your seat!

So far so good for attending this one but we'll be near the MD/PA line that weekend so as long as everything stays as planned I'll meet you all there.
Wish I could make the bus trip, it's a good deal and the ride sounds like a lot of fun.

Yes, John!! We have plenty of spots available because none of the GUILD members have reserved their seats yet. (Feeling guilty yet?)
I have received money from FIVE non-Guild members already. One of the non-Guild members is a photographer coming from DC whom we will be picking up along the way near Baltimore, so if you know of anyone in that area who wants to go, but doesn't want to trek out to Brunswick, have them contact me.
If any of you are on the fence, let me see if I can push you over. I had to put a deposit of $100 on the bus and, although I have put a deadline of March 16 on the payment, if I don't have enough booked by the 11th and don't cancel I still have to pay for the bus. Either way, the $100 is non-refundable. We need a minimum of 25 and have enough room for 36. Anything less than 25 and it's going to cost us more per person than $60.
Invite anyone and everyone - other photogs, folks from the local garden club, anyone who likes flowers, gardens, historic estates, etc. and please, please, PLEASE let me know if you are definitely going and get me your money.

Ok. I've made a decision.
It's been three weeks now and not one of you who said you wanted to go on this trip at the last meeting - you KNOW who you are - have contacted me to even say "Put me down!", much less send me money.
I'm getting pretty disheartened by the lack of support for this trip from Guild members, especially since I'm getting more support from members of other photog groups, one of which has now asked me to come and speak at one of their meetings because they WANTED to go on this trip.
If I don't hear from any of you this weekend I'm canceling the trip and will have to refund money to those non-Guild people who have already sent me money, plus I'll be out the $100 deposit. But, at least I won't be stuck with the $1000 bill for the bus.

This is not looking good. I will mail my check this weekend. If you get stuck with the deposit you can keep it to help with your losses. If anyone else that said they wanted to go wants to contribute also...that would be the "right thing to do"

Based on what I have seen gong on right now with my big event this coming Sunday, it is always at the last minute. We have been scheduling a large indie yarn event for the past five months. And all of our local people who said they wanted us to do it again are the no shows and last minute people. Same with the advertising. We were looking at being a few hundred dollars in the hole but we are down to $80 in the hole. But we can cover that with sales of my prints and note cards. I get a small percentage and costs with the rest covering any extras.
I never committed either way since I know my allergies. I think it will fill up at the last minute for you.

Contact and ask the below clubs if they can send out information to the members, they're less than or about an hour away from Brunswick, MD but certainly much shorter than driving to Kennett Square themselves.
Also try the local paper. Worst case scenario you'll have a few non-photogs filling up seats that'll have to watch the Strobist DVD's with you.

Right now the headcount is 12. You and fiance will make 14. Then we'd just need 11 more. This is definitely a GO trip now!!! I think we'll make 25, but if we only get really close we can all make up the difference with a few bucks.
Ex: Say we only get 24. The bus cost per person is $42 (including a $2 gratuity). That's just an extra $1.75 per person 'cause there's no ticket cost for that 25th person not going.

Kelly, I have a question as to the paypal fee. Up at the top you say simply two dollars, then you say two dollars per person, is the paypal fee $2 per person or are you being charged $2 dollars per transaction? I'm just confused, thats all. ;o)

They charge me about $2, minus a few pennies, for the $60 transaction, so it's per person, because it's a percentage of the amount I receive. Don't worry either, you weren't the only one to forget.
