About Brooklyn Vegan Pool
This pool is for readers, staff and contributors of the NYC-based music & comedy blog BrooklynVegan.
It is meant to let the BrooklynVegan blog develop a pool of approved photos for use in news posts and blog updates on the various bands and performers that we showcase. The pictures will be used in the event that we do not have photographs on file for informational purposes, and under all circumstances, images will be properly credited with a link back to Flickr and the photographer will RETAIN FULL RIGHTS to their images.
Unfortunately due to the sometimes critically time sensitive nature of the news posting (and the severe understaffing of the BrooklynVegan website), it is not always possible to gain permission in advance. This is the main reason for this group-- to establish more quickly who is pre-approving their pictures to be used.
You **DO NOT** have to live in Brooklyn, or even New York (or be vegan) to contribute to the pool. It is just a way for people to contribute to the blog and get their work out there and more hits coming back to their Flickr accounts.
There is no guarantee that images here will appear on the site, and if they do, there is no guarantee as to the timeliness of their appearance, though timely images are the most likely images to be used. The most common usage will most likely be a post containing pictures of an event that happened the night before.
Please use discretion and upload only a few images per artist, and per performance of the artist you have shot, and we will assume that any image from that set will be eligible for use. You can also Add "brooklynvegan" to the tags of any of your photos and it will appear in our feed (that we are developing). Also try to choose your best images when tagging this way. The more the image stands out, the more likely it is going to be used.
Please note that though we don't make enough money to offer compensation for the use of the photos (for now anyway), every image used will link back to your original set, and exposure on BrooklynVegan often leads to other paying jobs and photos sold to other publications. There is also the potential for photographers to move from a pool contributor into a more official role with actual assignments (that usually include free tickets and photo passes).
Let us know if we missed anything, and thanks!
