About British Peaks
The group exists to promote - by exhibiting beautiful photos - Walking, Hiking, Climbing or just Admiring the mountains of England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland.
Photos and discussion of any activities to do with British Mountains is welcome.
It is a commonly held view that to qualify as a mountain the height of an upland region must exceed 1000 feet above sea level. However, many spectacularly high places in the British Isles, the White Cliffs of Dover, for example, do not meet this criterion. Therefore, we invite you to use your judgement rather than obey a fixed rule.
This group uses the word British to capture the geographical concept of the British Isles, rather than to assert any particular political dimension of that term.
