About Brick Of The Somme

All Lego WW1 and WW2 creations are allowed here. This is the home of the IRS (Independant Republic of The Somme) which has a miltary branch attached to it (the SOF). Our idea is to form up different companies which group members can join. The companies will then be given challenges (eg. to build the latest armoured vehicle) and to fight and capture strategic outposts.


History:

1914- The IRS is formed. It consists of , GB, France, Russia and all the other Allied Powers.
1914-15- The IRS declares war on the Central Powers. Italy joins the IRS
1916- The IRS is busy on the Somme
1917- The USA joins the war and enters the IRS.
1918- The IRS win WW1.
1935- With the growing fear of Nazi growth in Europe, the European powers form a coalition within the IRS, the European Allied Coalition.
1939- Germany invades Poland, starting WW2. The IRS declares war on Germany but the USA stays neutral.
1940- Italy joins in so the IRS declare war on them. Germany invades France so the IRS counts on Britain to send troops. They are defeated, but escape at Dunkirk.
1940- Great Britain is currently the only IRS member fighting, along with all its empire.
1941- Japan bombs Pearl Harbour causing the USA to enter the war, The IRS declare war on Japan. Germany invades the USSR which means the USSR declares war on them and joins the IRS.They fight bravely at Stalingrad and Kursk over the next few years.
1942- The IRS fights against Rommel's forces in the desert.
1942- The USSR fights German forces at the battle of Stalingrad, one of the bloodiest in history.
1943- Italy is invaded and they surrender after months of fighting. Italy joins the IRS and starts liberating the rest of the country.
1943- The Battle of Kursk if fought, the biggest tank battle in WW2. This is the turning point and the USSR start liberating Eastern Europe.
1944- The IRS prepare for 'Operation Overlord'
6 June 1944- The IRS sends Canadian, American, British, Australians and New Zelanders to the beaches of Normandy.
1944- Operation Market Garden is launched which parachutes Allied forces into the Netherlands.
1944-5- hitler lauches the 'Battle of The Bulge' the last German offensive. They catch the Allies by surprise, but they are quickly repelled.
April-May 1945- The USSR invades Berlin. hitler and other key Nazi leaders commit suicide before the Reds get to them.
1945- Japan still fights on. The IRS gets information of the USA's nuclear bomb. It is dropped on Japanese cities hiroshima and Nagasaki, ending WW2.
1945- The IRS becomes part of the UN and NATO, and they are all formed into The United Allied Coalition (UAC)
